Casa Black

Charm

"The Madureira Saturday. Two institutions, one neighborhood, sundown to sunrise - plus the network it sits inside."

Madureira on Saturday night, the Black Rio scene most travelers never find. Baile Charm at 10pm, Casa Black until sunrise, transport and the safe ride home included.

The Whole
Madureira Day

Most travelers get sent to Lapa , cariocas-only-in-name, fanny-pack tables. Madureira is where Black cariocas actually spend Saturday. Two venues, four blocks apart. Parque Madureira opens it with afternoon culture into the Baile Charm under the viaduct. Casa Black closes it indoors until sunrise.

Parque Madureira

Largest park in Zona Norte. Skate, food, music by day. Baile Charm under the viaduct by night, every Saturday since 1991.

Parque Madureira is Black Rio's Zona Norte living room - skate ramps, food kiosks, Saturday musicians, families. At 10pm the Baile Charm kicks off under the Viaduto Negrão de Lima. Charm is slow soul / R&B / freestyle with a paired-dance tradition regulars have refined for thirty years. Multi-generational, sophisticated, recognized as Rio cultural heritage.

Casa Black Rio

Funk, pagode, afrobeats, R&B. The Black Rio nightclub.

Ten minutes from Parque Madureira. The indoor club that takes the energy through to sunrise. Funk and afrobeats early, pagode and R&B mid-hours, soft pagode at 4am. Crowd is 25-40, dressed sharp, mostly Black, mostly carioca. Hetero Black-music scene, but couples and families with older kids fit right in. No specific gay night. Where the city's Saturday lives until sunrise.

Madureira is Black Rio

The neighborhood produced Mart'nália, Zeca Pagodinho, half the country's serious samba and pagode. Canonical to Black Brazilian music. Parque Madureira and Casa Black are two anchor points in a zone that has been the cultural lab of Black Rio for a century.

Why they pair

The park is the open-air, all-day version. Casa Black is the indoor, late-night version. Same neighborhood, same music heritage, same crowd at different hours. The park hands you off to the club. Locals do this every week. BBE just makes sure you can too.

And the network around it

Casa Black sits inside a larger Black-Rio network. The founder behind Zê-êne (bar / club / barbershop / clothing store) also runs YOLO (signature production party), and partners with Everyday People for the Rio takeover every November. Tell us 24-48h ahead and we can fit a Zê-êne visit + Marlon meet-up around your Saturday.

One owner.
Four concepts.

Zê-êne is a bar, club, barbershop, and clothing store under one roof. The founder also runs YOLO (the signature production party) and brings the Everyday People Rio takeover to the city every November. Personal friend of BBE. The Black-Rio network Casa Black sits inside.

Zê-êne

Four concepts in one venue. Get a fade in the barbershop. Pick something off the rack. Drink at the bar. Stay for the club portion when it kicks.

The kind of room that only exists when one person runs every floor. Zê-êne is the owner's creative footprint in Black Rio - same crowd that fills Casa Black on Saturday, same network that powers YOLO and the EDP November takeover. Pair it with your Madureira Saturday for the full day-into-night picture.

Meet Marlon

If you tell us 24-48 hours in advance, we can usually set up a personal tour of Zê-êne with Marlon - the bar, the chair, the rack, the back room. The kind of access nobody books online.

What it unlocks

Knowing the owner means knowing the calendar. YOLO drops before they post. EDP Rio hotel + ticket combos in November. The Black-Rio production network from the inside.

What's Included

Cover, Ride,
Both Venues

Three ways to do Saturday: Parque Madureira only (afternoon + Baile Charm), Casa Black only (late-night club), or both (the marathon, 2pm to 5am). All three include transport, guide, and the safe ride home.

  • Cover charges included
Parque Madureira is free to enter; Baile Charm under the viaduct runs R$10-20. Casa Black runs R$50-80. Included in your trip regardless of which option you pick. No buying tickets at the door, no fumbling at the kiosk.
  • Round-trip transport from Zona Sul
Driver from your Copa/Ipanema/Leblon hotel. ~40 min each way via Linha Vermelha. Same driver or partner driver waits on the Madureira side or comes back later, depends on your tier.
  • Zeek or Jonas on the ground
Meets you at the door of whichever venue you start with. Walks you in, points out the bar, the bathroom, the right side of the dancefloor. Available the entire night for either venue.
  • The right dress code briefing
Parque Madureira is daytime casual, sneakers, shorts or jeans, sun hat. The Baile Charm under the viaduct shifts to casual-but-respectful, clean sneakers, button-up or fitted tee, no athletic wear. Casa Black goes one notch up, dressed sharp without being formal. The crowds dress differently at each. We tell you exactly what works for each leg.
  • Dinner stop in Madureira (combo tier)
8-10pm window, between park-day and Charm we walk you to one of the Madureira spots we know. Feijoada, churrasquinho, or pizza depending on what's open. Real Madureira food, real prices. Or eat inside the park, the food kiosks run all afternoon.
  • Safe ride home, any hour
Whether you leave the park at 7pm, head home after the Charm at 1am, or stumble out of Casa Black at 5am, driver pulls up within 5 minutes of your text. Drives the safe route back via Linha Vermelha.
  • Group coordination
Going with 4+ friends? We split you into the right number of cars (one ride doesn't fit 6), keep the group together at the door, and meet at one point at the end of the night.
  • Charm dance primer (optional)
If you're staying for the Baile Charm, request a 20-minute Charm primer at the hotel or in the car ride out. Zeek or Jonas walks you through the basic paired step. Most clients who watch one YouTube video and try one step are accepted on the floor immediately.

Is Madureira safe?
What is "Charm" music?
Do I need to know how to dance?
What's the dress code at each?
Is it really 40 minutes away? Why not just go to Lapa?
Can I bring my phone? Take photos?
Is this LGBTQ+ friendly?
Both venues are inclusive. Same-sex couples dance and make out openly at both. Charm has a strong queer following, paired dancing where same-sex partners are common. Casa Black isn't a "gay club" but it's a welcoming scene where you can be yourself without it being the theme of the night.
What if I want to leave early?
Easy, text Zeek or Jonas, driver pulls up in 5-10 minutes from either venue. The combo tier has no penalty if you stop after the Charm and skip Casa Black. We've never had a client wish they stayed longer than they did.
What about Sunday morning?
What is Zê-êne? Can we actually meet Marlon?
Zê-êne is a bar / club / barbershop / clothing store under one roof in Black Rio, owned by the same founder who runs YOLO and brings the Everyday People Rio takeover every November. Yes, you can meet him. Tell us 24-48 hours in advance and we'll set up a personal tour - the bar, the chair, the rack, the back room. The kind of access nobody books online. Free add-on to any BBE Madureira Saturday.
If I'm in Rio in November, what's Everyday People Rio?
An annual marquee weekend the Everyday People crew brings to Rio in partnership with YOLO, usually around US Thanksgiving. Not a gay party, but accepting of everyone and the Black-Rio scene shows up in force. Venue varies year to year - we track the drop the moment it lands and can package it with hotel + Casa Black + Zê-êne + Marlon meet-up if you want the full weekend.

See you in Madureira.
