About BBE & The Team

Who we are, why we exist, and why this isn't a travel agency.

What makes BBE different from a travel agency?

Travel agencies book hotels and flights and hand you a printed itinerary. BBE is a network of real people on the ground in Brazil, built over six years, that gets you walked into the right rooms.

We don't drop you at a tour. We hand you a guide who is friends with the people you're meeting. The difference shows up in every interaction: doors open, prices stay fair, language gaps disappear, and the trip you booked turns into the trip you remember.

How long has BBE been around?

BBE the company launched in 2026. The network behind it goes back to 2020, when Bryant arrived in Rio for Carnival and the world locked down. Six years of relationships came before there was a website.

Before BBE was a business, fifteen friend groups had already done a version of these trips with Bryant. Every one of them said the same thing: you should be doing this for a living. That's the trip you're booking, the one fifteen groups have already test-driven.

Who actually runs BBE?

Bryant Huff is the founder, on the ground in Rio for six years. Three Experience Concierges run the ground game:

  • Ezequiel (Rio + São Paulo): Brazilian fitness influencer, former pro footballer, 100K+ Instagram following
  • Jonas (Rio): Legal taxi operator and connector, the calm hand in the chaos
  • Sivaldo (Salvador): Dancer, drag artist, cultural icon, 20+ years in Bahia's queer cultural scene

The full team is on the team pageevery person you'd encounter on a trip.

Do I get to meet Bryant on the trip?

Sometimes. Bryant's based in Brazil, and on most trips he'll show up for at least one experience, dinner, a night out, a beach day. Whether he's in town for your specific dates depends on his schedule.

Your Experience Concierge handles the day-to-day on the ground. If having dedicated time with Bryant matters for your trip, flag it on your planning call and we'll work it into the itinerary when his schedule allows.

What's the founder's actual story?

Bryant went to Rio for Carnival 2020. A week later, COVID closed the borders. A quick trip became six months. Six months became six years. He lost 130 pounds, survived a 15-day coma, negotiated his way out of a 360,000 reais hospital bill, came out at 29, and built a network in this country that took every one of those years to earn.

Then friends started flying down. After fifteen groups all said "you should be doing this for a living," BBE became real. Read the longer version →

Is BBE only for Black travelers?

No. BBE is built around the Black diaspora's connection to Brazil, that's our point of view and our network. But anyone curious, respectful, and ready to be a guest in someone else's culture is welcome. Most of our trips include allies, friends-of-friends, partners, and family of all backgrounds.

What we don't do is build trips for travelers looking for an extractive or "exotic" experience. If the question is whether you'd enjoy yourself respecting our framework, the answer is almost always yes.

Section 1

Itineraries & Pricing

What you're paying for, what you get, and how pricing works.

What's included in the itinerary price?

Your private guide throughout the trip and transportation with a dedicated driver, plus the experiences you choose from the menu across beach, culture, nightlife and food.

Not included: hotel, flights, food (unless an experience includes it), and adult nightlife. Hotel and flights you handle on your own or we coordinate separately.

How does pricing work?

Each trip is priced per person, based on how many days you travel, your group size, and the experiences you choose. A private guide and dedicated driver are built in, and the more people in your group, the lower the per-person cost.

Start from a ready-made itinerary or build your own, and we confirm your exact price on the free 30-minute call. Build your own trip →

Can I customize a itinerary or swap experiences?

Yes. Most clients adjust at least one or two experiences after their consultation call. The itinerary is a strong default, not a contract. Tell us what you actually want on the call and we build it from there.

What kinds of trips can I book?

Either pick a ready-made itinerary (a long weekend, a full week, the Couples Route, a Girls Trip, Gay Rio Week and more) or build your own from scratch with the trip builder. See the trips →

A few days is great for a first taste of Rio; two or more weeks makes sense to combine Rio with Salvador or São Paulo.

We confirm your exact price by group size, dates and selections on the free 30-minute concierge call.

Can I add more experiences or extra days?

Yes. Add as many experiences as you like, or extend your trip with extra days. Each addition is priced simply (an extra guided day, an extra experience) and we total it up on your call. Bigger groups also bring the per-person cost down.

Section 2

Booking & Cancellation

Deposits, timing, what happens if your plans change.

What's the deposit, and when's the balance due?

30% of the itinerary price secures your dates and locks in your team. The remaining 70% is due two weeks before arrival. After final payment we send your trip dossier with everything you need to know on the ground.

How far in advance should I book?

2-3 months in advance is best for a normal trip. High-demand experiences (Casa Black sections, Flamengo home games, NYE on Copacabana) need 4+ months. Carnival can be booked last-minute, but after October the camarote spots, biggest blocos, and specialty parties (YOLO/Kilario/Batekoo/Candyland) stop being guaranteed. The 30-min concierge call tells you what your dates need.

What's the cancellation policy?

The 30% deposit is fully refundable for 14 days after you pay it. After that 14-day window it's non-refundable, since we've already committed your team and any pre-purchased tickets.

Important: if you make your deposit within 30 days of your trip start date, it is non-refundable from the moment it's paid (no 14-day window), there's no time for us to fill the spot if you cancel.

Postponement to a later date is always available, no questions asked. The 70% balance is fully refundable up to two weeks before arrival.

What if BBE has to cancel?

Force majeure (weather, civil unrest, illness of the guide), we postpone first if possible. If cancellation is necessary, you get a full refund plus a $200 USD credit toward a future trip. We document the reason and we own it.

How do I start?

Free 30-minute concierge call with Bryant. Book it here. No purchase required, just dates, group size, and what you're looking for. If we're a fit, we send a quote within 48 hours.

Section 3

Payment

Methods, FX, and the PIX emergency-funds feature for on-the-ground hiccups.

What payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfer, credit card, and PayPal for the deposit and balance. PIX (Brazilian instant payment) for in-country additions if you decide to add experiences during the trip.

What's the PIX emergency-funds feature?

If your card fails on the ground (it happens, even with the right banks), you Zelle / Apple Pay / Cash App us the dollar amount, we PIX the BRL equivalent to your guide in seconds, and your guide pays the vendor right there. Up to $500 USD per incident without prior approval, more with a quick text to Bryant.

This solves the single most stressful thing that happens on a Brazil trip.

Do you charge in USD or BRL?

BBE charges clients in USD. Your guide and Brazilian vendors are paid in BRL at the day-of-payment FX rate. The FX risk during the trip-window is on us, what you see in the quote is what you pay.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The quote is the quote. Vendor activity fees (tickets, meal-included experiences, etc.) are listed line-by-line in the proposal. BBE does not mark up vendor fees, what they charge is what you pay.

The only things outside the itinerary are food/drinks at your own choice (real Brazilian prices, you'll be shocked how cheap), hotels, and flights.

Are drinks and bottle service included?

No, and that's on purpose. Drinks and bottle service are paid directly by you, either per drink at the bar or pre-paid for a table. You're never marked up on alcohol, and you control the spend.

Your guide gets you in, holds the table, and handles the door. What you drink is your call. Want bottle service locked in ahead of time? We arrange it and you pre-pay the venue.

Do you have a referral program?

Yes. If you traveled with us and send someone our way, we credit you cash back when they book: $25, $75, or $150 depending on the itinerary they pick. Repeat clients earn more.

No limit on how many friends you refer. They just mention your name on the planning call, and we sort your credit once their trip is booked.

Section 4

Safety

Rio reality, the rules that matter, and how we operate in favela and North Zone communities.

Is Rio safe?

Rio is as safe as any major city when you have someone on the ground. Most BBE problems are people problems, not crime problems, and we navigate around them.

The Free Rio Starter Guide covers neighborhoods, ATMs, phone rules, and what not to bring. Read it before you fly.

How does BBE handle favela and North Zone experiences?

BBE only enters communities where we have established personal relationships and standing access. We monitor conditions before and on the day of your visit.

If a community isn't safe to enter, we pivot in real time: either to another community where we have access, or to a substitute experience of equivalent value at no additional charge. We don't override a "no" from someone on the inside. Ever.

What's the deal with adult nightlife and termas?

Sex work between adults is legal in Brazil. We don't book these venues for you, but we'll get you there safely, get you home safely, and give you the context to walk in informed, most of the trouble at these places isn't violence, it's financial scams. The Por Dentro guide has the full breakdown.

What if I get sick or hurt on the trip?

Your guide handles it, SAMU (Brazilian 911 medical) is dialed in seconds, we know which hospitals to go to, we negotiate the bill. Bring travel insurance. BBE carries general liability for trip incidents on our side.

What about pickpocketing and phone theft?

Real risk, totally manageable. Your guide briefs you on the specific rules on day one and they become second nature by day three. The full safety chapter and the Free Rio Starter Guide cover the rules in detail before you fly.

Section 5

What to Expect on the Trip

Logistics, day-to-day, and what a BBE day actually looks like.

Do I need to book my own hotel?

Yes by default, but we can coordinate hotel booking on request, with our preferred neighborhoods (Ipanema, Copacabana, Leme, Santa Teresa) and properties. Tell us on your call and we'll send recommendations.

Do I need to speak Portuguese?

No. Your guide handles all language interactions and translates in real time when needed. North Zone experiences happen in Portuguese, your guide is right there with you. Knowing a few phrases helps but isn't required. The Por Dentro guide includes the Portuguese that actually matters.

What does a typical day look like?

Morning text from your guide with the day's plan. Pickup or meeting point. One or two experiences, lunch, downtime in the afternoon (Rio time means slow afternoons). Evening: dinner, then either an experience or a night out, Casa Black, Pedra do Sal Monday, Boate Save, whatever fits your day. End at the hotel safely.

How long is a typical BBE trip?

5-10 days is the sweet spot. A weekend works for a first taste of Rio. Two or more weeks makes sense for combining Rio with Salvador or São Paulo.

What should I pack?

We send a complete packing list with your trip dossier two weeks before arrival, calibrated to your dates, your experiences, and the season. The Por Dentro guide has the deeper version if you want it earlier.

Section 6

For Specific Travelers

Solo, LGBTQ+, groups, families, what BBE looks like for you specifically.

Is BBE good for solo travelers?

Yes. A lot of BBE clients are solo, especially through the Gay Rio Insider itinerary. A few experiences have 2-person minimums (private chef, MasterChef Brasil, the secret-waterfall hike) but most work for one. Tell us your preferences on the call and we'll size things right.

What about LGBTQ+ travelers?

Rio is one of the most openly gay cities in the world. Posto 9 of Ipanema is a daily gay scene. The Home is among the biggest gay parties in South America. Bryant came out at 29 in this city and has been navigating it since. The Gay Rio Insider itinerary is built specifically for that scene.

Do you work with groups?

Group of 4 is the sweet spot. Groups of 6-8 unlock private sections at most clubs and the personal-chef tier. We've done bachelor trips (Bro Trip itinerary), group celebrations, and family trips. Larger than 8 = let's talk on the call about logistics.

Is BBE family-friendly?

Yes for families with adult kids. Most of our experiences are 18+ (nightlife) but the cultural, beach, and outdoor experiences work for any age. For families with younger kids, we curate a daytime-heavy version. Tell us the age range on the call.

Section 7

Cities, Rio, Salvador, São Paulo

Rio is the core. Salvador and São Paulo are extensions or standalones.

Do you do Salvador and São Paulo too?

Salvador is led by Sivaldo, a 20+ year cultural icon in Bahia. São Paulo is led by Ezequiel. Both itineraries are in development and both are available now by inquiry, as extensions to a Rio trip or standalone. See the Salvador / São Paulo page for what's currently offered.

Can I combine Rio with Salvador or São Paulo in one trip?

Yes. Most clients do Rio + Salvador (cultural roots focus) or Rio + SP (food, nightlife, business focus). Salvador is a minimum 3-day trip. SP is 3+ days. We coordinate the flight, the handoff, and the local guide on the ground.

Why no other Brazilian cities?

We only operate where we have personal relationships built over years. Rio, Salvador, São Paulo are it. We get asked about Florianópolis, Recife, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, none of those happen until we have someone we trust on the ground.

Section 8

Specific Experiences

For deeper FAQ on individual experiences (Flamengo, Carnival, Rasta Beach, Pedra do Sal), each has its own page with a full FAQ section.

Is the Flamengo game experience available year-round?

Flamengo home games run roughly mid-January through November, we check the schedule against your dates before quoting. Full game-day details →

When is Carnival 2027?

Carnival 2027 runs Friday, February 5 through Wednesday, February 10. But "Carnival" as a season is ~6 weeks, pre-Carnival blocos run from late January, and post-Carnival blocos continue 1-2 weeks past Ash Wednesday. Minimum 1 week in Brazil for Carnival; 10-14 days is ideal. Rest days are not optional. Full Carnival details →

When should I book BBE for Carnival?

You can book BBE for Carnival at any time, even last-minute. What changes is what we can still get you. After October, specific experiences stop being guaranteed, camarote spots (including Candyland, the gay camarote), the biggest blocos, and specialty parties (YOLO, Kilario, Batekoo) sell out. October is the smart deadline for full menu access. After that we work with what's left.

What does BBE cost for Carnival?

BBE handles experiences, transport, and guides, not housing or flights (unless you ask us to source accommodation, which we can do as an add-on). The typical Carnival quote covers: Sambadrome tickets (sector or camarote), bloco coordination, specialty-party access, daily transport, and a guide on the ground every day. The ticket cost is the dominant variable, a premium camarote (incl. Candyland gay camarote) is $600-2,000+/person before our service fee; standard sector tickets are $80-300. Quotes are sent within 48 hours of your free 30-min concierge call.
